I enjoy taking walks through our neighboorhood during the day. It's fun to check out what's in the bayou along the road. Today I saw two different breeds of snake, several turtles and many different kinds of small fish. I've looked on the internet via Google and haven't been able to figure out what kind of snake this little guy is. Anyone know?

One of the things about Pierre Part that I have found interesting is the wide variety of ROAD KILL. I think I have seen about everything with the exception of a human. There have been cats, owls, turtles, opposums, squirls and many things in between. Here's a sample. I intend to add to it whenever I am able to get a quick picture.

Yesterday was David's Birthday. Despite the fact that he had to work (12 hours no less!) I tried to make it special. I, for one, am super happy that he has a Birthday. I made him fried eggs, sausage and cinnamon rolls for breakfast and hid a card in his lunch cooler while making his lunch. It was a HalMark music card. When it opens it plays "Bad to the Bone." I hoped that it would make him laugh. Once he was out the door (with a kiss of course) I started getting ready for his party. I made home made pizza with bacon, ham, sausage and lots of cheese. And I baked a cake. Chocolate with blackberry filling and chocolate frosting. (I made way too much frosting and will probably have to go buy graham crackers.) He chose the pizza but didn't know about the cake... until he got home and opened the fridge! I was hoping to surprise him after supper but the horrors of living with a man. = ) He opened presents first and got quite a stash. We have nearly all of the expansions for our Carcassonne game thanks to Amy, my parents and myself. Amy called to wish David a happy Birthday then we lit the 27 candles under the exhaust fan of our non-exsistant oven. I sang the song and he blew out all the candles in about 5 attempts. Oophf-geez he's getting old. =) (Note that David's goatee had to be shaved off for this job.)

Rather than a music special, we had a special speaker. Nate, a friend of ours from LeTourneau and a current seminary student had our guests in stitches while he wove the tale of our relationship.

Pastor Ritter, David, Tony and Nate watch the Bride approach. The music was techno and fast paced so they didn't have to watch for very long. Rebecca walked quickly up the asile.

Pasor Ritter begins the ceremony reminding the parents of the couple about leaving and cleaving and ask them to committ to allowing the Bride and Groom to seperate themselves from their parents and begin their own life together.

Inside of our house pictures for the curious...

Half of the kitchen area which functions as our living room. The doorway to the bed room is to the right. David has just gotten home, his lunch cooler is still beside the door. The couch is actually a filthy color motif of sorts. I picked up an inexpensive blanket at Wal*Mart and it works nicely as a cover up.

This is the kitchen. We don't have an oven but there is a toaster oven that I refer to as my "easy bake." Although it is small I can bake just about anything in it. I'm in the middle of creating a scrapbook of pictures from our wedding. That would be the mess on the table. David brought home the flowers for our anniversary and they still look great.

The "view" from the doorway of our bedroom. Upagainst the wall on the right is the door to our room. The landlord apparently likes it propped against a wall as opposed to hanging in the frame. We hang clothing from the hinges. The bathroom door is at the back. We got over the door hooks to hang our towels on because there wasn't room in the bathroom. Our single little bitty window for this room is in the upper right hand corner.

Our delightful restroom. It's very small and the shower stall is about 1.5 by 1.5 feet. Maybe. The vent/fan is just out of picture range to the left.

It's basically a hole cut in the wall all the way through to the outside. They screened in the inside and hung up a towel over the whole mess. There's a little switch below it but the fan doesn't work any more. That is probably due to the build up of debries and the weight of wasp nests on the fan blades. The outside of the hole wasn't covered up with anything.

That basically covers the house. It's pretty tiny. Because we carry the basics everywhere we go (we don't always get furnished places) and there are no closets here our little home is pretty cluttered. I don't really like the clutter but I do really like being able to have David come home to me in the evenings.

Hello there! Since we tend to move around so often and now that we have a digital camera we thought it was high time to set something up for people who are curious. That's right. We will continually update this with both compositions and photographs to keep all those interested... with out bombarding e-mail in-boxes of those who don't really care! = ) Right now we are living in a little bitty southwestern Louisiana town. We arrived January 23rd and since then we have experienced weather from the lower 40's to the higher 90's. GeezLuis. The little place we live in doesn't have central heat or air. We have a window unit and a space heater. I will be more than ready for some serious luxury in our next housing unit. Did I mention, however, that we didn't pick the place? David's company had it set aside for us. How nice. But, in fact, it was nice. There aren't very many places available for living in this area. We are slightly closer to Baton Rouge than New Orleans. There are some apartments to be rented but all of them require a minimum 6 month lease. We do not expect to be here that long. We can't afford to leave a long line of broken leases behind us. Nor can we afford to pay out on leases in places we won't be living. All that to say we are still here. And it could be a lot worse. I visited with another woman who stays home while her man works to bring home the bacon. They couldn't find a place to stay so a hotel is where they are calling home. Marina can't drive so she stays inside this little hotel all day every day. Chad has a minimum 1 hour and 15 min drive. That's when the traffic is good. I think it's quite possibly smaller than our little house. I've told David I really am just thankful that we have a place to live and that his drive is pretty decent. Plus we don't have neighbors smashed on top of us and squished beside and behind us in an apartment. We always end up near the fighters it seems. I don't know what people can find to argue about that often. But then I am blessed with a handsome laid back husband who loves and cherishes me.
